Last modified: July 8, 2009Action Research Books is a collaboration between the Urban & Environmental Policy Institute at Occidental College in Los Angeles, CA and MIT Press, Boston, MA.
The goal of Action Research Books is to create a space for dialog between academics, community organizations, students, experts, activists and others, about strategies for creating a more just, livable and democratic world. …by linking activism with academia, and examining the interconnectedness of the social and environmental issues we face today.
The books and authors featured on this site are part of two MIT Press series edited by UEPI Director, Robert Gottlieb:
- Urban and Industrial Environments – Established in 1997, the Urban and Industrial Environments series seeks to address issues of urban life, industry structures and activities, local and global environments and questions of social and environmental justice. (Download a flier)
- Food, Health, and Environment- The Food, Health, and Environment series explores the global and local dimensions of food systems and questions of access, justice, and environmental and community wellbeing. (Download a flier)
